Han brukte grotten som skjulested.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Etter \u00e5 ha overlevd slaget om Culloden bestemte han seg for \u00e5 drepe r\u00f8djakkenes h\u00e6rf\u00f8rer, hertugen av Cumberland, som hevn for den harde medfarten hans klansfeller hadde f\u00e5tt under slaget.<\/p>\n\n<p>Han la seg til i skr\u00e5ningen, og s\u00e5 en mulighet da hertugen og troppene hans kom forbi. Gorries muskedunder var full av hagl og spiker. Han l\u00e5 i skjul og ventet til hertugen var innenfor skuddvidde.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Uheldigvis for Gorrie s\u00e5 var det et d\u00e5rlig skudd, og han bommet.
