Tan pronto como llegaron, los animales empezaron a explotar este medio en pleno desarrollo y seguidamente, posiblemente hace unos ocho mil a\u00f1os, los humanos llegaron al valle. <\/p>\n\n<p>Se trataba de los pobladores de la Edad de Piedra que dejaron pocos vestigios tras de s\u00ed, ya que viv\u00edan en cuevas y refugios improvisados. Creemos que cruzaron el Canal de la Mancha desde Europa cuando todav\u00eda exist\u00eda un puente terrestre y se dirigieron hacia el norte durante los siete mil a\u00f1os que siguieron.<\/p>\n\n<p>Hace aproximadamente cinco mil a\u00f1os los humanos empezaron a cultivar la tierra y a formar comunidades. Aproximadamente en el a\u00f1o 500 DC se dio una invasi\u00f3n desde Irlanda. Eran los pictos, el primer pueblo celta en llegar a esta tierra que pronto derrotar\u00eda al resto de Highlanders de la Edad de Bronce.  <\/p>\n\n<p>En el siglo VI DC llegaron m\u00e1s irlandeses a estas tierras y recibieron el nombre de scots, tambi\u00e9n eran celtas.<\/p>\n\n<p>Los pictos y los scots se unificaron tras unos decenios de convivencia y pasaron a llamarse Escocia. A menudo se considera al rey Kenneth (843 DC) como el primer rey de Escocia, haciendo que este lugar sea el reino m\u00e1s antiguo del mundo y todav\u00eda vigente en la actualidad, algo que adem\u00e1s de \u00fanicos, nos hace sentirnos muy orgullosos. <\/p>\n\n<p>Macbeth (injustamente difamado por Shakespeare) introdujo la primera fuerza policial en el siglo XI, aunque las d\u00e9cadas que siguieron estuvieron marcadas por batallas, hasta que Escocia fue finalmente invadida por el rey Eduardo de Inglaterra a finales del siglo XIII, a pesar de los valerosos esfuerzos de William Wallace.<\/p>\n\n<p>En 1328 el rey Robert de Bruce asegur\u00f3 finalmente la independencia de Escocia: las pretensiones inglesas sobre esta tierra quedaban sofocadas definitivamente.
